Our area’s educational opportunities are as abundant and diverse as the communities in the region, there is no shortage of places to learn.
Ranging from preschool to PhD programs, the area is home to nationally recognized public school systems, private schools, and technical schools as well as world-renowned colleges and universities. School Choice allows parents and students at the primary and secondary level to select the school system that best meets their needs and expectations. Several public schools in the region offer unique opportunities for students, project-based learning facilities, adult education opportunities, accelerated learning programs at area colleges and the ability to earn college credits while attending high school. In fact, it is not uncommon for students attending public schools in our region to graduate with associate's degrees or a significant number of credits toward their bachelor's degrees.
Students interested in continuing their education beyond high school can do so locally at a number of colleges and universities in the area. Schools range in size and scope from smaller community colleges like Lake Michigan College and Southwestern Michigan College to larger four-year colleges and universities such as the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University - South Bend, and Andrews University. Each of these colleges and universities recruit locally, nationally, and internationally which creates a richly diverse student population.
